Tower of Babel

Tower of Babel (バベルの塔, Baberu no Tō^?) is an event that occurs in Neon Genesis Evangelion: ANIMA novel.

Profile

From outside it looks like a tower with a pyramid shaped point with shimmering light that goes up to the clouds. Outside it, any type of communication wasn't possible. Hikari Horaki couldn't read any symbol and reach to anyone in any language. The opposite happens inside the Tower of Babel, being able to communicate with thoughts.

People outside it reacted in various forms, some was in a panic state, some were with fear, other with curiosity. As the battle inside it continued, it looked like a cloud wad inside the Tower with gigantic beings inside it battling.

Volume 3

Tower of Babel first occurs during the battle of Novaya Zemlya. To initiate the event, four Angel Carriers struck their staff on the ground, causing an explosion that is able to create a crater. This causes the area inside the four pillars to have an invisible wall, shimmering light like a soap bubble.

As it trapped both Super Evangelion and US Evangelion/Wolfpack. Four Angel Carriers Type-3 appears and touch the walls, phasing inside it. As the Carriers enter the area, their bodies grow in size, being almost triple the size they were before. Their Q.R. Signum also grew in size and shined bright red as more energy was used inside the area. The armor of the Carriers cracked and blood came out of the beings.

Armaros speaks in Shinji's voice that "For the crime of taking non-human form. Human child… Take dominion over the wild animals of the earth." directly through inside the barrier, without using any radio signals. Shinji also could hear Mari thoughts, indicating that it was not only energy that could be conducted better but everything else too like thoughts.

Each Carrier held the arms up as the Super Evangelion run in direction of US Evangelion, but Shinji claimed that it wasn't his intention.

As Super Evangelion attacked Us Evangelion, it easily dodged each attack and Shinji purposedly missed each swing of its blades. Shinji and Rei Trois decided to not play into Armaros decision and used the Vertex wings to fly towards one Carrier at the edge of the Tower. The Carrier projected its power shield and bounced Super Evangelion back into the ground. Shibji put back the Kesara into the shoulder pylon and deflected the beam launched by the Carrier with Basara. Kesara scanned the enemy field and started baking the new configuration in the shoulder pylon. Shinji gripped Basara with the two hands and attacked again, but it was intercepted by two long arms with a glowing red rod. It was the Sachiel arms coming out of the coccon inside the Angel Carrier. As it tried to pin Super Evangelion down, the arms were crushed by the US Evangelion. Super Evangelion barely had time to restart when another Carrier attacked, now with Sandalphon's lava, turning the ground into molten rock from the skies as it continued to fly, releasing lava into the ground.

As time had passed and Kesara had a new configuration to attack. A healed Sachiel kept firing at Super Evangelion who dodged as it approached the Carrier. It manages to pierce the power shield as it targeted the Q.R. Signum. Using the Vertex wings to power through, it wasn't enough as the Sachiel's arms pierced Super Evangelion's stomach and right thigh. As it was busy with Super Evangelion, it couldn't defend itself against Mari and US Evangelion's Eliminator Torus, which managed to destroy the power shield, the Carrier and the Sachiel altogether. After the explosion, Super Evangelion is tossed and is damaged. Mari removes the Sachiel rods and tells Shinji that there are 3 Carriers left to destroy.

As he got up, Shinji could smell the ozone in the air. Indicating that one of the Carriers had Ramiel in its coccon. Rei Trois body and mind took much damage by using the Q.R. Signum power to replenish Super Evangelion movements and abilities.

Super Evangelion used the Vertex wings to fly towards the Angel Carrier who had Sandalphon and used it to block the Ramiel beam in the sky, exploding it. The lower half was destroyed but the upper part was still functioning, with its Q.R. Signum intact, still able to fly. Sandalphon fell into the pool of lava it created previously. Now Shinji separated his enemy into two, making it harder to fight it in land or the sky.

The new plan was to US Evangelion to have the attention of Ramiel's beams as Super Evangelion would fight against the Carrier and Sandalphon. But Ramiel still aimed at Super Evangelion anyways.

As it fell into the lava, Shinji was awakened by Trois scream, he quickly moved with Kesara in hand as he felt something was near. He thrusted Kesara as hit Sandalphon, cutting it from the mouth until the end of its tail, damaging it. Shinji in his high synchronization, understood why Super Evangelion was moving itself without his commands. It was his Heart that was stolen by Victor. The Heart was calling itself as Shinji and making Super Evangelion move as it was its own body. Shinji now wants to use his Heart to give him energy to recharge its blade in the same way Q.R. Signum would power the Carriers. As Sandalphon trashed with the sword in its mouth and it burned up until it exploded, releasing Kesara. Shinji flew up there with the burning sword and slammed into it power shield, crashing into the wall. As the scales lined up, Shinji sliced it, destroying both at the same time, hitting the wall and making a sound that was heard for kilometers outside.

As the Super Evangelion now flies towards the Ramiel Carrier, it is once again shot down by its beam. But instead of a single beam, now it was shaped like a ring, acting like an accelerator to the shot launched by it. Both Shinji and Mari attacked from above and bellow. Shinji sword's swing was blockef by it shield and bounced it off. Mari tried to sink her Evangelion's teeth on the coccon but the Carrier moved it away, hitting its thighs instead. Shinji attack was blocked but it manages to get the enemy data, he put the blade on the shoulder pylon and initiated the forging process now powered by his Heart outside the Tower.

The ring outside the Ramiel Carrier wad acting as a particle accelerator. and the shield was stronger around it rather than above or bellow. Shinji decided to attack from bellow and as it approached it, Ramiel used the spiked drill to defend itself. As Shinji's blade was in contact with the drill, his body was suddenly launched backwards. Mari used his Super Evangelion as a springboard to attack the Carrier from above, attacking the belly and coccon with its claws, eventually destroying the Angel. Mari also attacked the Carrier and attempted to bite the Q.R. Signum. The Carrier hand grabbed the US Evangelion and crushed its body, breaking its neck and launching it far. Shinji flew in its direction and used the sword to hit the hand away and destroying the Q.R. Signum in the following move, destroying it. As the body desintegrated away, Shinji was shocked by only having a single Q.R. Signum.

Not having much time to think, Shinji is attacked by the final Angel Carrier inside the Tower, the one who had Zeruel inside approached Shinji and Rei Trois. Deciding to fly low, Shinji is shocked by watching US Evangelion with a Q.R. Signum in its mouth, Mari decided to devour the Q.R. Signum to acquire more power. Zeruel not long used its ribbons to attack Super Evangelion again, using both sword to defend itself. As the beasts devoured the Q.R. Signum, a new one appeared on the US Evangelion's chest, it also grew up in size, with all limbs becoming larger than before. The orbit of the accelerating particles was now around its neck. The rmpty N² explosive chambers, were sent all four cylinders flying away.
