Volume 1[]
Aoba Shigeru infiltrated among a line of civilians waiting for an evacuation bus. He had concealed his identity with artificial skin and fake contact lenses, a fake ID and his guitar case on his back. This was due to the fear of intelligence leaks by the Japanese government. [1]
Shigeru Aoba visits his university teacher Professor Mizusato in a stealth mission. Aoba asks Mizusato where are the copies you took of the quantum wave mirror blueprints and test data. Mizusato feigns ignorance, but Aoba keeps the pressure, saying that it was 4 years ago, when he entered NERV. He says that Ritsuko Akagi asked his opinion on quantum wave collapses. Aoba even mentions how scary the NERV's intelligence division as he continues to press for more information.[2]
Mizusato picks up a can of beer, opened and drink it all in one go and tells Aoba that the mirror can destroy Evangelions. He tells Aoba that rhe mirror can't produce energy like the S² Engine, but since the Core has contact with other dimensions, the mirror reflects those extradimensional quantum waves and keeps them from crossing into our own dimension. Aoba completes with the conclusion of it being able to suffocate their cores. But with a few changes it can make the core expand. Mizusato tells him that the mirrors were already designed using Ritsuko Akagi's mother data.[2]
Mizusato delivers an envelope with some documents and an old storage device to Aoba, who thanks him and leave, telling him that he was in a hurry.[2]
After being picked up by VTOL, Aoba returns to the base and delivers the device to Maya, who starts putting the data into the machine to stop Unit-01 from overflowing.[3]
