Sakura Nagashi (桜流し?) is a single by Hikaru Utada, it was released on 17 November 2012. It was published by EMI Music Japan Inc. It contains the main theme of the film Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo.[1]
Utada had not watched any of the Rebuild of Evangelion films or read any of their scripts prior to writing the songs[2][3] and wrote the song based on vague descriptions of them. Because director Hideaki Anno told her to simply write how she felt and Utada felt she could still not understand anything that happened in the films, Utada drew instead on her feelings on the recent death of her mother as well as the 2011 Japan earthquake and tsunami, which had happened days before she was requested to write the song.[4]
