Neon Genesis Evangelion: Typing Project-E (新世紀エヴァンゲリオン タイピング-E計画, Shin Seiki Evangerion Taipingu-E Keikaku?) is a video game first released on 24 December 1999 for the Windows 95/98, later it was released for other platforms. It is a typing game based on the TV series. It was developed and published by GAINAX.[1]

Overview[]

This is a typing game where the player must type words on the screen to advance the action. It covers both Latin and Kana characters and is played exclusively on a keyboard. For this reason, it is necessary to use a special keyboard on consoles.

It offers several short performances showing some scenes and events from the series. Guided by Maya Ibuki, the player must complete six missions in order to unlock the seventh and final mission. Each of them is divided into three levels.

The player must write the words that appear on the screen, making as few mistakes as possible. Each mission corresponds to a minigame, in which the player performs all the actions by typing the words correctly, and often as quickly as possible. At the end of each mission, the player can see their results: time, percentage of success, score, etc.

It featured an online leaderboard accessible via GAINAX’s website.[2] The mode was discontinued at some point between January and April of 2004.[3]
