History[]
Neon Genesis Evangelion: ANIMA[]
Volume 1[]
Kensuke upon realizing that he would never become an Evangelion pilot, decided to join NERV's security intelligence department. He and Ryoji Kaji were in a mission in Cyprus and had to deal with other organizations trying to get the spoils of SEELE's fall, like locating the Ark. [1]
Volume 2[]
He has become an agent of the Intelligence Department of NERV Japan and works with Kaji to find activities from SEELE. In one of these missions, in Cyprus they find the Keel Lorenz visor. Kaji suspects that Kensuke traded information with the Germans for the location of the visor, giving information about the Allegorica in exchange. Rather than letting Kensuke puts the visor in, he puts it instead, wondering how they were too similar at this point. [2]
Toji talked with Kensuke and he explained that they found a SEELE relic and upon using it, changed Kaji, turning him into a different person. And he isn't willing to handle Kaji to nobody, requesting an emergency evacuation. [3]
Rei Quatre appeared in Cyprus with her Evangelion Unit-0.0 Mutant and Kensuke asks Toji why would Commander Katsuragi send Unit-0.0 there.[4] When Rei Quatre and the abducted Misato came to Cyprus using the power of the Q.R. Signum, they meet Kensuke and the Kaji-vessel, they told them that they managed to defend themselves against other agents of different organizations and now are being attacked by the UN forces as missiles hit the Unit-0.0. Kensuke didn't knew about the Rei Quatre involvement with Armaros and was surprised at watching the Unit-0.0 fire the gamma-ray laser canon and destroying an Iphiclus Javelin, an N² warhead launched by a ballistic missile. Upon seeing this level of attack, Kensuke finally realized what was happening and was listening to Misato and Kaji-vessel conversation about the nature of Armaros and his objectives to the Human Instrumentality Project, they kept talking until Evangelion EURO-II Heurtebise appeared in the battlefield, wielding a positron rifle.[5]
As Heurtebise approached, Kensuke suggested that it was within the range of Unit-0.0's gamma-ray laser canon and asked her to fire, but was stopped, saying that the pilot was Hikari Horaki, in shock, Kensuke was disoriented, but still, he took part in the abduction of Hikari's family to Germany, and he knew that Germany restarted the Evangelion development project using their leftover resources but had trouble finding child pilots, but Kensuke never thought they would let a non-German be a pilot of their own Evangelion. Unit-0.0 picked up both him and Misato and vanished into the ground, using the power of the Q.R. Signum to go to the Valley of Human Bodies. There they felt a strong repulsion force against them, and Kaji-vessel showed them the Ark. Kaji told Kensuke to learn for yourself as he touched the ground and started to writhe and moan as the powers of the Ark affected his body. Kensuke still with pain tried to reach the Ark with his right arm, until it turned into salt and crumbled. Unlike the previous cases, only his arm was transformed to salt, and with his body felt such repulsion but not to the point of becoming salt. Kaji realized that he hold the metal that protected against the effects of the Ark. As Heurtebise also appeared, also using the powers of the Q.R. Signum, Kaji left Misato with Kensuke, telling her to not leave him and his metal since the effect wouldn't be as strong since they are a pair of man and woman.[6]
As both Evangelions fought in the air, Misato and Kensuke were in the ground, feeling the strong repulsion of the Ark against sentient beings. She used her coat to stop the bleeding from Kensuke's shoulder as he wake up from being unconscious. He told Misato that the Ark was spinning and entering the rocks and leaving as if it didn't had any physical presence. [7]
Super Evangelion after passing the dimensional portal with Shinji and Rei Trois arrive at the Valley where both the Evangelions were fighting, Shinji leaves Rei with Misato and Kensuke as he was spotted by Heurtebise. [8] With the arrival of Armaros and the fight of Super Evangelion against it, Kensuke and Misato, now separated from Rei Trois, watched Super Evangelion being pierced in the Center Trigonus by the Spear of Longinus. [9]
After the battle was over, Armaros approached the Ark and sunk into the ground, leaving the Valley of the Human Bodies with it, and with it, the repelling force was gone too. Kensuke took a small case from his tactical vest and gave to Misato, saying that the Europeans called it Orichalcum, but when analyzed the metal, it was just common lead. As he spoke, he parted ways with Misato, leaving her there, saying he will be in touch. As she searched for him, she eventually finds Rei Quatre unconscious, and she hears military craft approaching the area. [10] In truth, it was Kensuke's who had leaked the localization of the Ark to the local powers who came into the place in hope to find salvation with it.[11]
Volume 3[]
After crashing the Su-27 SMN² Platypus II, Toji woke up in an ICU room, he looked around and saw Cyrillic letters and realized that he was in care of the Russians, trying to scratch his head with his left hand, he saw a pale, emaciated flesh-and-blood arm connected to his shoulder unlike his cybernetic arm. Confused, he was explained by Kensuke that it was the his arm that he lost 3 years ago that they cultivated. It is revealed by Kensuke that they were scared that the Angel Bardiel would wake up and kill them all once it was connected to the true owner. Kensuke had in fact participated stealing both his arm and leg from the NERV Japan medical research laboratory. Kensuke explained that that was also the reason why they didn't reattached his real leg, that was in a cylindrical container near the bed. He also explains that he didn't stole, just used as part of the trade involving NERV Germany. Actions that were done by the Intelligence Department in secret long before he even joined them. Upon hearing this, Toji says that he barely recognizes him anymore, and Kensuke answer that he is just being logical. He asks Toji why he isn't allowed to change, why he and Shinji are able to go forward without him as he stayed of as comical relief to the group. He understood that he couldn't follow the same path as Toji or Shinji, so he decided in finding a different path. Kensuke admits that sometimes he goes too far, but he says that he will makes things right, admitting that he did something bad to Hikari. Toji asks him about his right arm, and Kensuke tells him that Toji almost left the facility with one of these, a downgrade of the one he used, a basic robotic arm that is usually donated to war-torn countries. Kensuke left the room, using his right robotic hand to make rock-paper-scissors gestures as he left.[12]
