No matter which road in the canon you go down, Yui's just going to break your heart. She doesn't come back in the anime, and she doesn't come back in the manga. It's only some of the fanfiction that have her return. Sometimes, it's to atone for her mistakes, and other times, it's because something went wrong and her goals are for naught. Is anyone else disappointed in Yui? --Aggression25 (talk) 07:58, November 24, 2015 (UTC)

Evangelion Unit 02 (EoE)Personally, while i would enjoy a scene in which Shinji properly met his mother, i think Yui not coming back fits perfectly with Evangelion's themes. One of the main points of the series is that people should learn to not run away from painful realities and accept that the world will never be an optimal place. Heck, almost all of Gendo's manipulations are fueled by his desire to reunite with Yui, even if that means destroying the world.

Without a proper mother figure, both Shinji and Gendo are left to construct their own selves and must face their own mistakes and errors. But hey, that's just my point of view!

Yui never care for anybody. She use both her own husband and son for her own selfish needs. She throws all the blame on Gendo for Shinji becoming a piece of trash when she was not no where to help him either. At least in the manga she knew her action had a effect on both guys and try to help both of them the best she could. In the anime she did not care at all. Shinji like going around choking girls when he angry, why don't he go choke his mom? Mr. Jive
