It wss introduced in EVANGELION 3.0: (-46h), piloted by Asuka Shikinami Langley.

It features green unfinished paint on the torso and the shoulder pylons, which the base color is gray. Unlike the Unit-02'β, there are only three active cameras, with the superior right one being covered by metal markings. It also is different in how the white parts in lower jaw are similar to the not damaged version unlike the Unit-02'β.[1]
The single arm shows damaged patterns unlike the regular version. The forearm guard is also not colored in red like the regular version. It only posses a single arm, despite having two shoulder pylons.
The legs also features unfinished painted parts, having pieces green, red and gray in various tones, being a patchwork. The head and torso features white banding parts covering the damaged areas by the Tenth Angel in Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance.

On August 01, 2022, during the Kamakura Bonbori Festival, Hideaki Anno revealed in his bonbori lantern, a variant of Evangelion Production Model-02 called Evangelion Production Model-02α-EIV.
During Wonfes 2023 Winter, it was revealed in a stand that had more images from EVANGELION 3.0: (-46h) that the Evangelion Production Model-02α-EIV would featured in the special video. In the released image, the right arm is seen covered by an unknown substance. [2]
