Evangelion Unit-01 (NATAYANAGI Ver.) (エヴァンゲリオン 初号機 刀野薙(なたやなぎ)Ver.^?) is an Evangelion unit featured in the Evangelion and Japanese Swords Exhibition collaboration event.

Profile

Designed to be a more leaner than original design, the colors are more of a darker metallic tone, with golden accents instead of yellow. The arm.patch if fully golden unlike the usual green or green and yellow. It includes a waist armor similar to samurai armor, with a polyhedral armor shape in gradation colors.

The sword/naginata has a pedestal also designed by Ikuto Yamashita.

It was based on a collaboration between khara and All Japan Swordsmiths Association, named Evangelion and Japanese Swords Exhibition that started in 2007, Okayama Prefecture. The exhibition traveled all around Japan beyond the initial event.

Amongst the swords in exhibition, one sword named 刀野薙-NATAYANAGI- was designed by Ikuto Yamashita, in collaboration with the sword smith 宮入小左衛門行平.

A 185mm figure was created based on the single illustration, modeled by Yamaguchi Katsuhisa, as part of the EVANGELION EVOLUTION line, produced by Kaiyodo: EVANGELION EVOLUTION EV-019 Evangelion Unit-01 (NATAYANAGI Ver.), with 22 movable parts and 18 joints. The figure comes with 3 types of optional hands, a pedestal, effect parts and the sword itself. It was released on 15 December 2019 for ¥8,800 (excluding tax).
