Evangelion Unit-00 Type F (エヴァンゲリオン 零号機F型, Evangerion Zerogōki F-gata?) is an Evangelion Unit that wss introduced in the Dengeki Hobby MagazineWP and later in the Neon Genesis Evangelion: ANIMA novel. It was intended to be piloted by Rei Trois, but it was later refitted to be piloted by Rei Six.
Profile[]
Evangelion Unit-00 Type F is a Stage 2 Evangelion Unit, being the same one as Evangelion Unit-00' that fought against Armisael, the core was salvaged and put in a regeneration chamber inside the Central Digna. Using spare parts of the Evangelion Unit-00 and the Type F equipment, NERV was able to produce this Evangelion. It only possess one operational leg, the right leg was substituted by a skid-shaped prosthesis that allows the Unit to take a more stable shooting posture.[1]
The reason the limbs were removed were that to generate the needed A.T. Field to use the Angel's Backbone and the Type F equipment can't be removed, having low maneuverability due to this limitation. Unit-00 misidentified the weapon as part of its body and generated an A.T. Field in the acceleration chamber. [2] Because it is the last line of defense of NERV Japan, it does not possess a S² Engine, with the energy being supplied by cables via an umbilical cable. It is theoretical possible to replicate the results of Operation Yashima. [3]
The only difference in the Evangelion fitted for Rei Six was the different entry plug, where Rei Six could operate the Unit-00 Type F. This change was due to her size in comparison with Rei Trois.
It was later upgraded once again to use the Allegorica Equipment, being turned into the Evangelion Unit-00 Type F Allegorica.
Weapons[]
- Angel's Backbone
- The right arm was also removed and in the position it was installed the Angel's Backbone.[4] The Angel's Backbone is one of the strongest A.T. Field weapons that uses a projectile of charged particles that when left the enclosed cyclotron, spiraled and compressed inside an egg-shaped chamber to gain even more acceleration, and zoomed through the barrel. The Angel's Backbone fired relatively quietly for its size, but its nearly instantaneous impact was tremendous in damage and noise.[5] The way to damage the target was to use accelerated heavy particles to corrode the enemy's A.T. Field and accelerates the particles even more as it uses its own A.T. Field.[6]
History[]
Neon Genesis Evangelion: ANIMA[]
It first appears defending NERV Japan against the attacks inside a facility located in Mount Komagatake, part of Mount Hakone. It was in a fixed armored facility that was connected via an underground transport and an elevator. It used the Angel's Backbone to target the missiles launched by planes, since the planes themselves were too far away to snipe it.
CR Evangelion X[]
It also appears on the pachinko game CR Evangelion X, where you can see Shinji, Asuka and Rei all using their Evangelions with the Type F Equipment to fight against the Tenth Angel. Rei uses the Angel's Backbone to destroy most of the A.T. Field used by the Tenth Angel, Asuka uses the blades to destroy more fields, until a single defensive layer remains, but is pushed away by the tendrils. Shinji uses the Impact Bolt to attack the angel, causing a massive explosion, finally defeating it.
Trivia[]
- In the pachinko game CR Evangelion X, the design under the Type F is of the Rebuild of Evangelion designs, rather than the TV designs.
