Evangelion Type β (エヴァンゲリオン乙型, Evangerion Otsugata?) or Evangelion Unit-β (エヴァンゲリオン乙号機, Evangerion Otsugōki?) is an original Evangelion unit featured in the game Evangelion Detective and later reappeared in Neon Genesis Evangelion: Battle Orchestra. It is piloted by Kaworu Nagisa on both occasions.
Profile[]
It is the sister unit of Evangelion Unit-α. It was designed and developed separately from NERV'S Evangelions, made only by SEELE.
Unlike any other Evangelion seen, Type β seems to possess hair, having back-length silver hair protruding from beneath its face plate. It seems to take inspiration from the design of the Mass Production Evangelion units, having the ability to extend wings from its mechanical wings and possessing no distinct facial features with the exception of a black, jaw-like apparatus.
There is no block for entry plug, the wings system is in that section.[1] Unit Beta is armed with a heat rapier.
After its transformation, 4 wings comes out from its back, the shoulder pylons vanishes alongside its mask. It receives a halo and move extremely quickly when it attacks.
In Battle Orchestra, it is said to be the Evangelion Unit with the best performance, using a sword to fight against its enemies.[2]
Features[]
- Wings
- There is a mechanical equipment located in its back that can fly. Upon transforming, The 2 sets of wings comes from the same location as the mechanical wings that vanishes after the transformation.
Weapons[]
- Heat Rapier
- It charges up with heat to do more damage.
History[]
Evangelion Detective[]
After being crushed by Shinji's hand in front of Lilith, Kaworu's body is dropped into the LCL, there, Kaworu speaks with Shinji while still alive. Suddenly Evangelion Type β appears and snatched Kaworu and devours the body. Asuka and Rei, whose Evangelions were being controled by Kaworu recover the control. The Evangelion Type β generates a strong A.T. Field and changed its appearance, gaining wings, halo and losing parts of the armor.
After being defeated by the trio, a strong light emanates from the body as it disappear, leaving Kaworu's body intact. He speaks with Shinji for one last time, before he is also gone.
