Evangelion Mark.44A (エヴァンゲリオン マック フォーツーエー?) is an Evangelion Unit belonging to the Rebuild of Evangelion film series. It is an autonomous mass-produced Evangelion unit introduced in Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon A Time. These units act like a colony and are equipped with weapons resembling the Spear of Longinus.

Profile[]

The Evangelion Mark.44A is similar in design to a standard proportion to a standard Evangelion, save for the back. However, the armour color is blue and dark green, and the unit features many areas designed to help the 44A keep it's altitude.

Features[]

The most distinct feature of this unit are its arms and legs which have been replaced by rotating pylons to produce lift, not dissimilar to Mark.04A or a quad-propeller drone. Where the head should be is instead replaced by 2 Angel Masks tied down by orange cables around the eyes and beak with the "front" of the unit being outfitted with a lance-like weapon resembling the Spear of Longinus for engaging enemies. It is unknown if the units are autonomous or if they use a dummy plug system.

History[]

Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon A Time[]

During the events of the Paris Assault Mission, Unit-08 β-ICC is deployed to destroy a swarm of Mark.44A's to protect the AAA Wunder and its crew as they try to unlock the Angel sealing pillar to restore Paris and more importantly, EURO-NERV in order to salvage parts to give Unit-08 overlap capabilities and rebuild/repair Unit-02.

Mark.44A makes it's last onscreen appearance when Gendo destroys all of the Evangelion Units with the Spear of Gaius piercing Unit-01 and Evangelion 13 to remove everything related to Evangelion.

Trivia[]

  • The name of the unit, Evangelion Mark.44A, may suggest that the '4' refers to one "Evangelion body". Since the unit consists of two "Evangelion bodies" (one facing up and one facing down/two heads), the name "Evangelion Mark.44A" is given.
  • The unit is designed in a horizontal-symmetrical pattern.
