EVANGELION RACING (エヴァンゲリオンレーシング?) (also known as EVAR or EVA RACING) is a racing team formed by RUN'A Entertainment Co., Ltd. on 15 April 2010. It is a collaboration with Rebuild of Evangelion film series.[1]
On 14 April 2010, RUN'A Entertainment announced the participation of an Evangelion team in Super GT 2010 via the APR team. For this first participation, he unveils the Evangelion RT Unit 01 after Corolla car, a Toyota Corolla modified to enter the race in the GT300 category. At the wheel are Kōsuke Matuura (松浦孝亮 Matsuura Kōsuke?) and Kōki Saga (嵯峨 宏紀, Saga Kōki?). The vehicle took part in its first race on the Fuji Speedway circuit during the SUPER GT Round 3 FUJI GT 400 km RACE, on May 01, 2010[2]. It then took part in the 4th round of the competition on the Sepang international circuit, on 19 June 2010. This partnership is part of the promotion of Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, and was not planned at the start of the 2010 Super GT season. It was only from the third race that the APR team modified one of its team's cars (number #31) to put it in the colors of Evangelion Unit-01. A motorcycle, the Evangelion Racing TRICK ★ STAR, is also registered to participate in the Suzuka 8 Hours.
The Super GT functions in terms of points. Each participant arrives between the first ten on a course that gives a certain points depending of their position. At the end of the season, the group of points is increasing to obtain the final classification. The points system can change in the later seasons and there are no details in this page.
The qualification for Suzuka 8 Hours race corresponds to the average time of three pilots. If the team finish between the first ten, they are qualified for a special course to advance to the finals.
The Races Queens are models dressed as characters of Evangelion franchise. They are present at each race involving one of the Eva Racing vehicles. They are also present at certain events at the various EVA STORES in Japan, to promote the racing team. The team in charge of EVANGELION RACING tries every year to change the models playing the characters as well as the costumes.
