Additional Impact

Additional Impact (アディショナル・インパクト, Adishonaru Impacto^?) is an event that took place in the South Pole^WP, during the conclusion of Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon A Time film.

History

Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon A Time

After Fourth Impact is completed, this Additional Impact is triggered by Gendo Ikari to complete his version of Human Instrumentality and reunite with his wife, Yui. Although Human Instrumentality was fully realized, the effects of this Impact and all previous Impacts were reversed by Shinji Ikari by using the Spear of Gaius to recreate the world and destroy all remaining Evangelions.

During the conclusion of the Fourth Impact, all of the human souls trapped in the Guf were released and merged with the Failures of Infinity. Gendo allows himself to become the soul of a newly awakened Evangelion 13, and takes Unit-01, along with two Spears of Longinus into the Minus Space. During a battle with Shinji Ikari, Shinji manages to transform one of the spears into the Spear of Cassius, its original form.

After the battle, Gendo shows Shinji "Evangelion Imaginary", a being with the power to carry out Human Instrumentality after this universe's Lilith was killed in the 14-year gap. The Spears of Longinus and Cassius unite to become the trigger of the Additional Impact, transforming Evangelion Imaginary into a being similar to Rei Ayanami with a detached head and hands.

Once Evangelion Imaginary travels back to Earth through the Gates of Guf, the Instrumentality of humanity's mental and physical forms begins at the same time as all of the Failures of Infinity are purified and unified, except the crew members of the AAA Wunder.

Through the sacrifice of Misato and the AAA Wunder, a new spear is created from the Wunder's spinal cord, the Spear of Gaius. the Wunder attacks Evangelion Imaginary and manages to break through to deliver the new spear to Shinji. As Shinji helps Gendo, Kaworu, Asuka, and Rei move on and reconcile his past mistakes, he prepares to use the Spear of Gaius to reverse the effects of every Impact and remove all Evangelions from this world through an event called Neon Genesis. Additional Impact ends as Evangelion Imaginary is destroyed through the events of Neon Genesis.
