Vue d'ensemble[]

En 2011, Bandai Namco édite le jeu vidéo musical Rebuild of Evangelion: 3nd Impact sur PlayStation Portable. Pour ce jeu, les compositions de Shirō Sagisu pour les deux premiers films Rebuild of Evangelion sont réarrangées par le studio de développement Grasshopper Manufacture, sous la direction d'Akira Yamaoka. Il étudie et décompose la musique afin d'identifier les éléments les plus caractéristiques ou intéressants à conserver pour le jeu^[1].

La bande originale est commercialisée en format album inclus dans l'édition spéciale du jeu, ainsi que sur des plateformes de téléchargement légal. Cette édition numérique propose huit pistes supplémentaires par rapport à l'édition physique.
